The old stereotype “Black folks don’t read” is steeped in ignorance. As with any stereotype, we will find those in our community who fit that description. Since its inception in 2016, the Metro Authors Group has sought to disprove that adage by promoting literacy among all ages in our community while promoting and providing support to authors in the area. The group is comprised of authors representing all genres. With so many authors in DFW and the nation, it’s a challenge for authors to market their literary projects while learning about the literary industry. In a short span of time, The Metro Authors Group have hosted 2 events yearly in the past 3 years. We just hosted our Third Annual Networking Lunch and Workshop featuring National Bestselling Author, Victor McGlothin on June 22, 2019. In the past we have hosted such notable authors as Te’ Russ, Brian W. Smith, Keith Thomas Walker, and Michelle Stimpson. The group also works in partnership with The Award-winning internet radio show, The Authors Lounge, which airs every Tuesday from 4pm to 5pm on the Fish Bowl Radio Network. Our purpose is to provide opportunities by which authors can grow and develop their craft as writers. We are calling avid readers of all ages, book clubs, and aspiring authors to attend our Third Annual Books, Burgers and More Literary Expo on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This event is free to the public. Our featured author is National Bestselling Romance Author, Anita Bunkley. For those aspiring authors with questions about the industry, we will also feature a “Ask the Publisher” panel featuring CEO Louie McClain of Melanin Origins, CEO of Spiritscribe Publishing, Courtney Smith, and CEO of Fort Worth Black News and North Star Books, Jill Darden. We will also have a children’s story time featuring award-winning Children’s book authors and a Book Club Meet and Greet. There will be Chef- prepared Beef, Turkey, and Veggie burgers available on site to purchase.

Books, Burgers and More Literary Expo will be held Saturday, September 7, 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM at The Eunice Activity Center, 1000 Eunice Street, Arlington, TX.
